IKER is highly specialised in the research on languages and texts
IKER is affiliated to Section 34 of the InShS (Linguistics), and is deeply rooted in the area of linguistics. The main lines of research combine studies in formal linguistics with phenomena related to linguistic variation and change, language contact and plurilingualism, including their social dimension. Beyond Basque and neighboring languages, the research pursued at IKER extends to other, diverse languages.
Texts
The research in the domain of texts encompasses among other things corpus-building, literary historiography, text genetics, sociology of literature, gender studies, identity construction in Basque texts. Part of the research is also devoted to making available new textual and literary material.
